Are you one of those people who like to stick with just a few good friends? How often are people trying to get you out and about to make more friends?

You may be doing just fine without being super popular, according to a recent study people who have fewer friends are actually smarter. Extremely intelligent people have actually been found to be happier alone. This is because those who are smarter are usually preoccupied with something much more important than their social lives. They find happiness in other places.

When you really think about it, it makes sense. These smart people are more focused on their goals than people who aren’t as smart. As a smart person, for the most part, you have more important things to do than gossip and there is nothing wrong with that.

These findings were published in the British Journal of Psychology and I could not be more happy with the results. Researchers on this study used something known as the ‘savanna theory of happiness’ to explain two main findings after analyzing their enormous survey results. More social interactions with a few close friends goes a lot further than a lot of social interactions with acquaintances.

So no, you aren’t anti-social, you’re just preoccupied and content in your life. As a brainy person, you are more able to adapt to modern life and are not tied to the social needs of those in this world. You have no need to be social or have many friends when you are perfectly happy being in your own presence.
