Parents get divorced all the time. It is something that we cannot help.

However, for the children of these situations, their outlook on love is changed forever. Children who come from divorced homes are different and because of this, they love differently. This can be both a good and bad thing.

These children love with caution and are much more guarded than others. They have seen the two people that should have been together forever (in their mind), split up, and whether they want to admit it or not it has taken a toll on them. They know that true love exists but are no longer oblivious in this life.

They are more than aware that just because a couple has been together for twenty years does not mean they are meant to be together forever. They are a bit more attentive because of what they have been through. These children are the ones who picked the pieces of their parents up off the ground when one was shattering the other.

They will take a bit longer when it comes to gaining trust and that is perfectly okay. They will only want to be around people who are emotionally stable. They have seen what unstable looks like and they want no part in that. They will take care of you better than anyone else because they are used to taking care of others. They like to feel needed.

They will be afraid of marriage and maybe want to put the idea off for as long as possible. This is because they have not known marriage to work. They don’t want to ruin their relationships like their parents did. Some of them are really clingy because of the fear that what they have is fleeting. It is something that either you love or you can’t stand, there isn’t an in between.

They are often hard workers because when they were growing up in a split home they had to take on a lot more responsibility. They know how to stay organized and can do just about anything they set their mind to. They will stress over all of the small things because they hate making mistakes.

Communication is a priority to them, because they feel as though it is important. They will make you very happy if you will let them. They will try their best to do everything right, and they will do anything to make you feel special. Once you get to know them you will understand that they are so worth it!
