In a study conducted by scientists at Orebro University of Sweden, a scientific link was discovered between eye color and personalities. So, apparently, there is quite a bit of truth behind the old saying about the eyes being the window to the soul.
In the study, 428 people had their eye color compared to various personality traits. And what they found was beyond mind-blowing. However, this isn’t the first time in which an expert has speculated regarding a link between the eyes and the brain.
“The eye is so closely linked neurologically to the brain that you might call it the only part of our brain you can see from the outside,” says Dr. Antony Fallone of Edinburgh university. “It seems to hold vital clues to our brain function.”
Black/Brown Eyes
Darker eyed individuals are typically natural born leaders, and even if they have yet to embrace that role, others don’t understand the difference.
For those of you who have eyes so dark brown that they almost appear black, you actually have one of the rarest eye colors in the world. Due to this, people may perceive you are mysterious. However, despite that, one study found that darker eyed individuals appear to be more agreeable to others.Â
The dark color is caused by melanin and the amount that is held within your system. One study has found links to athleticism and dark eyes. Also, the darker your eyes, the quicker your brain is able to work because of the melanin.
Blue Eyes
While those who have blue eyes are strong inside and out, other people probably won’t assume that. The reason being is that people oftentimes see blue-eyed individuals as weak, timid or untrustworthy. According to the Daily Mail, psychologists found that blue-eyed children were somewhat hesitant to try new things. Lighter-eyed women are better at tolerating the pains of childbirth, as well as the stress associated with it.
Gray Eyes
Gray eyes are actually quite rare. Those who have them are typically so balanced that they may even feel as though they have two personalities. Of course, this can be a good or a bad thing depending on the person. Gray eyed people have to put more effort into exerting themselves and to be taken seriously. Despite all of this, they have very deep emotions and care very much for all people.
Hazel Eyes
There are various definitions for the color hazel, but typically, it is the colluding of various eye colors that cause them to resemble hazelnut or amber. According to the Eye Doctor Guide, hazel eyes may change from green to brown, or contain various shades of the two colors. As a rare eye color, people may perceive hazel eyed individuals as different and unique. It is because of this, that most hazel eyed individuals are independent, confident and spontaneous. One expert has explained that the mixing of eye colors could be due to a liver imbalance, therefore, if you have hazel eyes, you could be more prone to digestive issues.
Brown EyesÂ
Due to the darkness in hue of the brown colored eye, there is more melanin in the system of those who have them. It is because of this, that brown-eyed individuals may tend to be more agreeable and assertive.
They have been described the the Charles University in Prague study as being generally loyal, respectful, and gentle. However, if that doesn’t feel fitting for you, it may be due to a lack of sleep. According to yet another study, brown eyed individuals may sleep 2 hours less a night or more than others. Which can cause one to come off as cranky.
Green Eyes
Green-eyed people are typically perceived as sexy and alluring. And when asked what color they would prefer to have for their eye color, most people chose green. Those who have green eyes have a very good balance of melanin which makes them more agreeable and dominant similar to those who have brown eyes. However, they are also strong and cautious like those with blue eyes.
