There is nothing worse than finding yourself caught in the monotony of your every day routine. As one day begins to blur into the next, and years fly past in the blink of an eye, leaving you wondering how you spent your time.
You think back to the days that you sat around as a child, dreaming up where you would be at 20, 30, 40… Grand plans of what you would achieve, where you would travel, what you would do for a living. Now, as you reach those landmarks in your life, you find yourself chained to the desk in your office, working your life away.
“Every day is an adventure.” – Joseph B. Wirthlin
Rather than beating yourself up, make today the first day of a new life! This doesn’t mean that you have to hop on the next plane to a new country, but rather just take the smallest of steps out of your comfort zone each and every day. Life is about taking chances, don’t hold back!
Allow yourself to meet strangers. Open up your heart, wear it on your sleeve and don’t hold back. A stranger today may be your best friend tomorrow.
Don’t waste your time on things that don’t bring you joy. If you feel your career is killing you, pursue a new one! Have you outgrown a hobby that you once loved? That’s OK too! We are always growing and changing, maybe it is time to leave that activity in your past where it belongs and pursue something new.
Try to step away from technology for even a few hours. That means close your laptop, turn off your television, put your cellphone in your pocket and live life without it being through a screen.
Take joy in the little things in life. Splurge occasionally, you deserve a treat. Don’t become too wrapped up in the rules. Are you craving a slice of cake while attending a friend’s party? Who cares how many calories or carbs you are staring down – Eat the cake! Drink the drink! Buy the shoes!
Try to focus solely on your own life, and stop comparing yourself to those around you. Your life doesn’t need to look like someone else’s, or follow the same path at the same time as someone else’s. It is your life, and its moving at your pace. Enjoy it!
