Have you ever wondered why so many people take the time to keep a journal or as some like to call it a ‘diary?’ While it may seem silly, there are quite a few benefits to writing about your day.
There is nothing better than getting all of your frustrations out on paper. Sure, depending on what you say you may need to keep things hidden but a journal can really help you grow as a person. Below you will find a list of benefits Associated with journaling that I think all people need to be aware of.
5 Ways Keeping A Journal Will Help You Grow:
1. You become more emotionally intelligent.
You are able to better understand what you are feeling and get to the root of why you are feeling it. You may even find that you understand others better when writing their actions down as well. The more you break something apart the more sense it will make.
2. You are able to heal yourself in ways you wouldn’t imagine.
You are able to get everything out on paper and let it go. Once you are truly able to feel things and then refuse to continue giving them power you are bringing strength within. This is something that most people do not realize they are even doing.
3. You are able to practice your vocabulary.
You are growing with your spelling and grammar through all of this. The more you write the better you get at it. Who knows, your journal may look more like a novel by the end of things anyway.
4. You become more mindful.
You learn that the past is the past and the future is the future. You are more capable of focusing on one day at a time than you were in the past. You recall things that happened earlier and how your night will end. This is magical.
5. You are strengthening your self-discipline.
You have to remember to write every day, even the things that are hard to write about. This brings about a lot of self-discipline. The more you write the better you will feel. You can write in the morning, afternoon, or even before bed. Do what is best for you but try not to skip days. Write down your goals, become more creative, and be more aware of what is happening in your life.
