Throughout time we have had many different gifted individuals who have passed down lots of their teachings to younger generations. Ancient philosophers have strikingly relevant teachings that apply to modern society today.

One of the most famous ancient philosophers is a Chinese teacher and a political theorist known as Confucius. Confucius was also known as Kong Qui. He was born in 551 B.C. in the Lu state of China. His teachings have been preserved in the Analects. They focused on creating ethical models of family and public interaction. He also set many educational standards. Confucianism later became the official imperial philosophy of China. While he died in 479 B.C, many of his teachings are extremely relevant to modern day society.

One of his most famous teachings is known as the golden rule, a basic thing we are all taught in kindergarten and preschool. It is simply, “Do not do unto others what you do not want done to yourself.” His wisdom can be used to achieve a happy, fulfilling life.
